Philanthropic Planning:
Meet the Becks

financial planning

Jake and Sherri Beck, both in their 60s, are high net worth Christians who have been retired for two years. During their time working, they saved faithfully and had more than enough to support their lifestyle through retirement.

The Becks have very generous hearts and established a vision to give as much as possible to a particular Christian ministry they were passionate about. They want to know how much they could reasonably give and the best way to structure and steward that gift.

Challenges: Desire for Impact, but No Clear Plan

  • Jake and Sherri Beck want to give a large sum to a Christian ministry they have worked with for over 20 years.
  • The Becks want to give during their lifetime so they can witness the impact their giving can make.
  • Jake and Sherri do not know exactly how much they could give and still maintain peace of mind that they had enough for retirement.
  • The Becks also do not know the best method to gift considering their investments, cash on hand, and real estate assets.

How Would Legacy Planning Help in This Scenario?

New Opportunities to Give

  • Initial conversations. We would help the Becks  gain a clear understanding of their overall financial position and the value they place on generosity. This would allow us to estimate a generous amount to give, while also keeping them on track to retirement.
  • Nonprofit research. Our advisors would learn about the Christian organization to better understand how they operated and what type of gift would most benefit their mission.
  • Movement of assets. After looking through the Becks’ assets and spending time in conversation with them, Legacy would help them determine what assets would most benefit the organization.

Amplify Generosity with a Confident Plan

At Legacy Planning Advisors, it is both our responsibility and our joy as advisors to help philanthropically-minded clients determine the causes and organizations toward which they feel most passionate, identify the best ways to support those causes, and experience the gift of giving and serving. In a case like the Becks, we can help clients gain a clear understanding on how to use their accumulated assets to fulfill their vision and glorify the Lord.
