Children get to enjoy many experiences as they mature into adulthood. They can take mission trips, meet different people, and learn teamwork through sports. These experiences are wonderful, but don’t underestimate the experience of work. Even jobs summer jobs can provide many benefits such as:


1. Building habits of hard work
2. Learning concepts of providing value and earning money
3. Education about paying taxes
4. Learning social dynamics of being an employee, co-worker and possibly a boss
5. Improving skills of a trade
6. Resume building activity for college (and scholarships)
7. Learning to take responsibility for actions and work product
8. Expanded perspective on life, especially as a future customer who now relates to employees who serve them
