God Owns It, God Controls It and God Provides It - By Peter Geckeler

The first transcendent principle at Legacy Planning Group is “Understanding God owns, controls and provides it all.”

This is a radical statement. Do you believe it to be true?

How easy it is for us to think that because we “earned” our income, that the money is “ours.” Deuteronomy 8:18 speaks poignantly to this topic: “But remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.”
To gauge your view as an owner or a steward of money, consider this exercise – when you are making spending, saving, or giving decisions, do you ask:
- What do I want to do with my money?
- What do I want to do with God’s money?
- What does God want me to do with his money?

Unless we are consistently asking the last question, we may not be resting in the truth that God owns, controls, and provides it all. Ultimately, when one grasps the weight of this principle, the other financial and life principles fall into line. Money loses all power and grip on our life. If we can continue to put our “hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment” and not put our hope in wealth, “which is so uncertain,” then a mindset of good stewardship of all that the Lord has entrusted us with becomes a byproduct.
